Guillem Hernández Sola (me, the one in the photo!) received a M.Sc. degree in telecommunications engineering in 2007 from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona. I graduated with honors. In 2008,I started the Master of Research on Information and Communication Technologies, basically focusing on topics like Optical Networks and GMPLS. I joined the Optical Communications Group (GCO) in 2008.
I am also a software quality assurance engineer specialized in starting and building QA programs and performance testing. I have testing experience with a wide variety of projects and environments. I have been coordinator and leader in testing processes, test strategies and plans, bug documentation and regression, and bug tracking system development.
I have started a project called Qatora . It is an extensible Ubuntu testing environment and project tries to develop a testing suite for begineers. The aim is to recollect all the testing enhancements develop for Ubuntu in one single deb package.
I also become a member of the QA Ubuntu community, in an active role. I assume that This field of expertise will bring more experience to be better QA engineer and a better person. I want to dedicate the best years of my life to develop a free and open source efficient QA environment able to be used to all the open source users. Now, I change Ubuntu, I am a Linux Mint user
Additionally, I have been collaborating in the Zet processor. This processor is an open source implementation of the so widely used IA-32 architecture (generally called x86). This project is very new but it can be synthesized in a configurable device such an FPGA or CPLD, or made as a custom ASIC. Five different FPGA boards are currently supported.
In my College years, I have been leading web-based QA processes in several online communities. Most bigger community I have been collaborating is Wiki Revistes. This community has more than 20000 page views each month and 2500 daily users. Another communities I have been collaborating and managing are GameraWiki GameraWiki a Humor mediawiki community with around 1000 daily users and an anonymous imageboard called El Chan with more than 250 daily users. All these communities are created and started by me. I also have managed the Barcelona IEEE Student Branch since 2003 to 2007. I am a FLOSS enthusiast since 1999. I have been an Ubuntu user since 4.10, mainly from the beginning. As I said, I change into Linux Mint. Additionally, I am a Launchpad user since 2005.
Currently, I hold a position as QA Specialist at Softonic. Basically, I am dedicated to:
- Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.
- Provide the QA Manager with accurate and precise estimates for assigned task duration, along with confidence levels and foreseeable dependencies.
- Develop, document and execute test cases for the product under test.
- Effectively communicate testing activities and findings in oral and written formats.
- Focus on the important testing and project priorities as agreed-upon with the QA and Project managers.
- Assist in the gathering and formatting of information for test results reporting.
- Perform the overseeing of all reported bugs in the bug tracking system for the projects.
